چکیده

Novel segmented thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) copolymers were synthesized using two-step solventless bulk polymerization. 4,4’-methylenediphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) were used to form hard segment of TPU and α,ω-dihydroxy-[poly(propyleneoxide)-poly (dimethylsiloxane)-poly(propyleneoxide)] (α,ω-dihydroxy-(PPO-PDMS-PPO)) was used to form soft segment of TPU, where the molar ratio of the –N=C=O/OH was 1.02 and the hard segment weight percentage was 30%. A series of TPUs were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The investigation of triblock oligomer’s PPO molecular weight impact on the derived TPU’s mechanical properties, thermal performance, surface water repellency and morphology performance was carried by Instron material tester, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), water contact angles (WCA), scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) and wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), respectively. FT-IR confirmed α,ω-dihydroxy-(PPO-PDMS-PPO) well cooperating into urethane structure and analyzed hydrogen bonding between N-H group with hard segment C=O group and N-H group with soft segment C-O-C group. DSC and WAXD results showed α,ω-dihydroxy-(PPO-PDMS-

Synthesis and Characterization of Cycloaliphatic and Aromatic Polyester/poly(dimethylsiloxane) Segmented Copolymers

(ABSTRACT) Linear thermoplastic polyesters are commonly used in high volume applications such as food containers, films and textile fibers. The physical and mechanical properties of these materials are well documented and are a function of chemical structure and morphology (e.g. semi-crystalline, amorphous, etc.). Polyesters, as are many organic polymers, are quite flammable. Polydimethylsiloxa...

Synthesis and Thermal Properties of Novel Biodegradable ABCBA Pentablock Copolymers from Poly (Ethylene glycol), L-Lactide and p-Dioxanone

In this work, new biodegradable ABCBA type pentablock copolymers with different mole ratio of L-lactide and PPDO-b-PEG-b-PPDO triblock copolymer were synthesized and characterized. In the first step, PPDO-b-PEG-b-PPDO triblock copolymer was synthesized via a ring-opening polymerization of P-DiOxanone (PDO) monomer with Poly (Ethylene Glycol) (P...

A Study of the Effect of TPU and Clay Nanoparticles on the Mechanical Behavior of PBT-Based Nanocomposites

In this research, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and clay nanoparticles were incorporated into poly (butylene terephthalate) (PBT) to improve the impact and tensile properties. The PBT/TPU (90/10, 80/20 and 70/30) samples were prepared by melt mixing using a co-rotating twin-screw extruder followed by injection molding. At the next stage, clay nanoparticles of different weight fractions were ...

Microphase separation at the surface of block copolymers, as studied with atomic force microscopy.

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is used to study the phase separation process occurring in block copolymers in the solid state. The simultaneous measurement of the amplitude and the phase of the oscillating cantilever in the tapping mode operation provides the surface topography along with the cartography of the microdomains of different mechanical properties. This technique thus allows to charac...

Relationships between the physicochemical properties of an amphiphilic triblock copolymers/DNA complexes and their intramuscular transfection efficiency

Poly(ethyleneoxide)-poly(propyleneoxide)-poly(ethyleneoxide) triblock copolymer (PEO-PPO-PEO) based plasmid delivery systems are increasingly drawing attention in the field of nonviral gene transfer because of their proven in vivo transfection capability. They result from the simple association of DNA molecules with uncharged polymers. We examined the physicochemical properties of PEO-PPO-PEO/D...
